Meridian

Nothing hidden, nothing painted

Raw aluminium takes no forgiveness. Every hammer mark stays visible for the life of the machine, so every hammer mark has to be right.

Meridian is the build we point to when a client asks how good the metalwork really is. There is no paint on this motorcycle. The tank, the tail and the front cowl are formed from 3mm aluminium over a buck, wheeled, planished and then finished with nothing but abrasive and hand pressure. What you see is the surface itself.

That decision removes every place to hide. A low spot that filler would swallow instead reads across the flank like a ripple in water. So the panels are checked against a straight edge and a raking lamp perhaps forty times before they are called finished, and twice we started a tank again from flat sheet because the shoulder was half a millimetre proud on one side.

Underneath, the four into one exhaust is hand bent from stainless in equal lengths, TIG welded bead by stacked bead, and ceramic coated only after the client had seen the raw heat colour and asked us to keep it. The forks and the rear unit are gold anodised, the one warm note in an otherwise entirely cold machine.

Specification

Written down, because it will be checked.

Every commission ships with a bound build record: photographs of each stage, part numbers, supplier provenance and the name of the person who did the work.

Aluminium remembers everything you do to it. That is the point.
